Work on Cranbourne racetrack lighting, which started in mid-June, is on target to be finished early next year.
Friday night meetings at Cranbourne, which will be Victoria’s second night racing venue, had originally been programmed from October.
Those meetings will be staged as twilight meetings until the project is completed.
Racing Victoria has scheduled Cranbourne to race on alternate Friday nights to the well-established Moonee Valley night racing series, which runs from late September through to April.
Cranbourne will have 38 state-of-the-art light towers with energy-efficient lights, which can be dimmed to save power when not required for racing and television broadcasts.
